A Charlottesville solar company is starting work to make some state facilities meet energy goals.
Sun Tribe Solar, located in Downtown Charlottesville, submitted a winning bid to the Department Of Mines, Minerals and Energy.
The Department of Forestry headquarters in Charlottesville will be outfitted with solar panels over the next few months.
“We’re really excited to be working with the Governor’s Office. Governor Northam has set forward an ambitious agenda around promoting clean energy throughout the commonwealth and they’ve selected Sun Tribe our business to help them deploy solar energy on three different facilities, one of which is right here in Charlottesville,” said Vice President of Business Development for Sun Tribe Solar, Devin Welch.
The solar panels are expected to help supply 16 percent of the forestry building’s electrical power needs, and work should be completed by summer of 2019.
