According to Sustainable CUNY, “New York took another step forward last week in the effort to create a pathway to wide-scale energy storage system (ESS) adoption with the release of a process guide for installing Lithium-Ion (Li-ion) batteries in New York City.
The City University of New York (CUNY) Smart Distributed Generation (DG) Hub, the Fire Department of New York (FDNY), NYC Department of Buildings (DOB), Con Edison and the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) worked together to develop the first comprehensive set of guidelines for installing Li-ion energy storage systems”.
S&R Solar Design, as the top solar design and permitting form in NYC, is taking initiatives on accepting offers and request from the installers to design and permit the approved ESS systems in residential and commercial properties all over New York City.
Sol Sahiholamal, Co-Founder, and Principal, S&R Solar Design said, “This is an exciting news and we are thrilled to work with installers or developers to design and expedite the process of battery back up installation. This can be done as a new application for any upcoming solar projects or as a retrofit. I understand that this is a rapidly evolving technology and it is still at the beginning stages but CUNY has always been an advocate on implementing the new guidelines and removing barriers in solar installation here in NYC.
With the help of FDNY, CUNY, NYC DOB and all others we can streamline and obtain approvals much quicker.”
