Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) has received an order from Gas Natural Fenosa Renovables for supply of 166MW of turbines for four wind farms in Spain.
In total, the Spanish turbine-maker will supply 48 of its SG 3.4-132 model turbines for the four wind farms.
While the blades for these turbines will be manufactured at the Aoiz factory (Navarre, Spain) and the Tangier factory (Morocco), the nacelles will be produced at the Ágreda facility (Soria, Spain).
As part of the order, SGRE will also offer maintenance services for the wind farms for three years, once they are commissioned in the middle of next year.
Siemens Gamesa and Gas Natural Fenosa’s relationship dates back to 1997. Since then, SGRE has supplied to the Spanish utility with more than 670MW in turbines, most of which are in Spain and Mexico.
As per the company, these new orders reinforce its position in Spain, where it claims to have installed about 55% of the total capacity, which is equivalent to more than 12,500 turbines nationwide.
Besides this, the company also provides services to more than 7.5GW, which is about a third of the country’s installed fleet.
Recently, SGRE has secured an order to build a 194MW wind farm in Australia. For this project, the company has agreed to supply 56 of its SG 3.4-132 model turbines.
The order was placed by renewable energy independent power producer (IPP) Neoen. As per the order, SGRE will build the entire complex on an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract basis and will also provide maintenance services for 25 years.
The wind farm will be located in Australia’s Victoria state, in the town of Stawell. This wind farm which will go by the name Bulgana Green Energy Hub will also include a 20MW or 34MWh lithium-ion battery storage system.
Construction of the project is set to begin right away and the commissioning is expected to take place by next August.
