The Seneca Grade School Board recently heard an update regarding a solar energy project that will be constructed on a proposed 40-acre site on property behind the South Campus.
Superintendent Eric Misener said Sunvest Solar, a company based out of Pewaukee, WI has received the complete geo-technical analysis on the site. Sunvest will follow up with the complete electrical plans and then submit for permits. He also said if all goes well, they plan for the array to be functional by June.
Misener said that the solar project is being completed at no cost to the district. The land belongs to the district and that they will be leasing it to an investor who will sell solar power to the district at a reduced rate. After ten years, the project will be paid for and the solar energy system becomes the property of the district.
He also said it wasn’t feasible for the district to build the project because as an educational district, they would not be able to re-coop any tax advantage.
