SolidEnergy today manufactures the world’s lightest rechargeable cells at pilot scale for prototype demonstration and specialized aerospace markets. They supply these to large Li-ion cell manufacturers to be integrated with a separator and cathode into full cells which can be customized for different applications including drones, consumer electronics and electric vehicles.
SolidEnergy battery cell uses an ultra-thin lithium-metal foil for the anode, a proprietary electrolyte that is stable on lithium metal, and an innovative cell design.
Because their anode and electrolyte materials are compatible with existing Li-ion cell manufacturing processes, we can achieve scalability by using existing infrastructure.
SolidEnergy wearable battery will be ready in 2019, and its EV battery will arrive sometime in 2020 or 2021.
Hermes™ cells power HALE (High Altitude Long Endurance) vehicles, VTOL (Vertical take-off and landing) flying transportation, and a wide range of consumer drones. Being half the weight and twice as energy-dense as Li-ion cells, Hermes™ opens up new possibilities for flight. Benefits include longer range, more payload and better nighttime operation stability at high altitude.
