The Mercedes-Benz EQC all-electric SUV is going to be the German automaker’s first all-electric vehicle built to be electric from the ground up. It will also be one of several electric luxury SUVs coming to market in the next year.
Now the Mercedes-Benz EQC has been spied with less camouflage ahead of its production unveiling in just a few weeks.
Based on the concept vehicle, Mercedes-Benz previously said that the EQC is equipped with a 70 kWh battery pack for a range of ‘up to 500 kilometers’ (310 miles). At the time, it was based on the NEDC standard and the real-world range or EPA-rated range would be expected to be significantly less – around 250 miles. The range should be competitive with the several other all-electric luxury SUVs coming to market in the next few years.
As for power, Mercedes says that the EQC is equipped with two electric motors on the front and rear axles for a total power output of up to 300 kW. The automaker claims that it will be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) in under five seconds.
We have seen the concept of the EQC on which the production version will be based and we have seen the camouflaged production version.
Unsurprisingly, it looks a lot more conventional than the concept unveiled two years ago in terms of the shape.
It appears that Mercedes-Benz is going to keep a grille on the front fascia for the EQC. Even though all-electric vehicles generally don’t really need air intake there, it looks like the German automaker is using a very large grille extending all the way to the headlights.
The headlights themselves remain very camouflaged on this test vehicle.
As for the wheels, they are mostly covered and similar to the ones unveiled in the concept version. It should help with the aero performance and efficiency, which ultimately affects the range of the vehicle.
The vehicle is expected to be fully unveiled and launched at an event in Sweden in just a few weeks.
