Maui’s second large-scale photovoltaic solar project came online this week in Lahaina, the Maui Electric Company said.
The Ku‘ia Solar project, which is owned by Kenyon Energy, is offering up to 2.87 megawatts of solar power to Maui’s electric grid at a cost of about $.11 a kilowatt-hour, the utility said in a press release.
Maui Electric does not take a profit from the purchased power and is passing the savings onto Maui customers.
